General settings

General settings is your starting point for any brand — this is where you set your display name, logo, and colours, and set your default brand. In this article, we'll walk you through how to set up and edit all the General settings.

  1. While signed in to your Checkmate account, click your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

  2. Click Company Settings.

  3. Click the Branding tab.

  4. Click on the three-dot menu and choose Edit to open the brand editor.

  5. Click the pencil icon to edit your Brand Name — this is your internal label and is never shown to candidates.

  6. Click the Default badge to make this your default brand.
    Note a brand cannot be deleted while it is set as the default brand.

  7. Display Name is the public-facing name candidates and referees see across all their communications.

  8. Upload your Brand Logo — it can be a PNG, JPG, or SVG, up to 5MB.

  9. Set the Button colour for your brand.

  10. Use the colour picker or enter a hex code directly.

  11. Set the Button text colour for your brand.

  12. Set your preferred Link colour.

  13. Check your text contrast score to verify compliance with accessibility standards.

  14. The live preview updates as you make changes, so you can see exactly how your branding will look to candidates before you save. Note that the buttons and links inside it are not clickable.

  15. If you have made changes and try to switch tabs or leave the page, you will see a prompt. Click Save and continue to keep your changes.

  16. There is also a Save button in the top right-hand corner.

  17. Click the back arrow in the top left-hand corner to return to the Branding page.
