Reminders

In this article, we'll walk you through how to set up automated reminders for candidates and referees who haven't yet submitted their forms, including how to configure timing and set when someone is marked as overdue.

  1. While signed in to your Checkmate account, click your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

  2. Click Company Settings.

  3. Click the Branding tab.

  4. Click on the three-dot menu and choose Edit to open the brand editor.

  5. Click Reminders to set up automated reminders for candidates and referees.
    Note that reminders are sent by email only — SMS is not currently supported.

  6. Reminders are on by default.
    You can turn them off here, but most clients leave them on.

  7. Choose the number of reminders you would like to send.
    As you change this number, the timeline below will update to match.

  8. The timeline starts at Launch — the moment the check is sent and the candidate or referee receives their first email.

  9. Set the timing for your first reminder, measured from the launch date.

  10. Set the timing for your second reminder.

  11. Toggle Mark as overdue to flag incomplete submissions at a particular stage.

  12. A badge appears on the step marked as the overdue trigger, so you can see at a glance when the overdue status will be applied.

  13. Click Save once you are happy with your changes.
